Having a quality finish on your door unit is critical to keeping it looking good for years, even decades, to come. Great River Door provides our door units as fully finished or, if you prefer, we can provide them unfinished. Because of the unique nature of our carved doors, we have developed some techniques for finishing that compliment our doors as well as provide superior protection. If you choose to finish yourself, or by a professional painter, we will provide recommendations & assistance as best that we can. The exterior side of the door is always the most critical as the exterior will be exposed to the elements. It’s for this reason that we use only quality Sikkens products that provide the stain options that enhance our doors/carvings as well as provide superior protection against mother nature. There are several different products, within the Sikkens product line & we will work with you to provide the best option for your situation.
For the interior, we will use a clear, satin, polyurethane that can be put over bare wood or we can stain, to your request, before applying. We are always open to special requests so your door will blend or enhance your other architectural features.
